Welcome to the new website and the first bit of news coincides with the end of the event season for 2017.
We were lucky to catch the last of the summer rays down in the South of France at the beginning of the week and shorts and tee shirts were the order of the day. It did cool down for the weekend but we didn't get wet which is always a bonus!
As with most things eventing it did not all go to plan: After some great dressage tests from all three horses the cross country caused plenty of movement on the scoreboard. Dusk Til Dawn ( Rex) had one of his baby spooks which gave him a 20 despite jumping all the narrows and tricky fences perfectly, NZB Campino ( Kinky) gawped into a ditch for long enough to nearly fall in it himself which signalled the end of his Pau and the star of the show was Kiltubrid Rhapsody ( Rhaps) who headed out for his debut 4 star run which he handles magnificently apart from a blip at an early corner combination. Rhaps has enormous scope and he jumped so big over the A that the line to the corner at B was suddenly not quite right... of course Mark blamed himself and the rest of the round was exemplary.
No one quite expected Pau to be so tough this year but it was certainly educational and when both Rex and Rhaps jumped beautiful clear rounds on Sunday morning it was the prefect end to 2017. As the sun went down the horseboxes were loaded up for the long drive back to the UK and the beginning of Autumn proper with no more competitions to go to.
Mark will be teaching clinics and private lessons though and through the blog we will keep you up to date with everything that is happening at Badgerstown. Please feel free to share and comment and many thanks to the team at The Smarter Web company for all their help in setting this up.
