What an amazing week in France at one of Mark's favourite events... he and Carolyn have always loved Saumur. As with most things with McClaren it was his first trip and he certainly embraced being the only horse that Jess had to look after! Mac is such a diva and having his every whim catered for was right up his street!
At the business end of things he really out did himself. A good test left him in 7th spot and he capitalised on that with a superb clear cross country on Saturday just adding 4 rime faults which left him in the same spot.
Sunday's showjumping was really tough with Mac being the first horse in the whole competition to put up a faultless display of jumping. That is quite some feat.. the only other horse was Chris Burton's winning ride, Quality Purdey who finished on her dressage score and was the only horse to do so.
Its an impressive achievement for a horse that was heading out to Tattersalls for his first CCI 2 star less than a year aga!
